INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
Indian Head Massage is a
treatment based on old Ayurvedic techniques. It can be administered
with or without aromatic oils and was traditionally taught
by Indian women to their daughters to encourage maternal bonding and to
keep their long hair in beautiful condition.
The massage incorporates deep thumb and finger pressures, working on
acupressure points to reduce muscular tension. Friction techniques to
encourage good circulation and soothing strokes to reduce stress and
fatigue. Working from the upper back , incorporating shoulders, arms
and neck, finishing with the head and face.
The therapist will be
aware and sensitive to the need of each individual
and each treatment will be unique. For most it is a pleasurable
experience, usually leaving
the client with a feeling of calmness,
clarity and well-being.
What
will happen during a treatment?
The client will sit fully
clothed or if using aromatic oils you will lay on a couch with your
shoulders exposed to receive treatment. A gentle or invigorating massage will be
performed beginning with the shoulders, working up the neck, over the
head, finishing with the face.
